We must openly admit that the ARGON-AM is an English invention. It was the British who first asked us to build a real all-mountain hardtail. Low-maintenance, light and super robust, but also good-natured and powerful to drive even long-stroke suspension forks. This is why the Argon AM is also a trendsetter and has become a pioneer for our progressive GEOLUTION geometry. As far as its field of application is concerned, the Argon AM lies between the current Argon GTB and the GLF – efficient and suitable for touring to rock your hometrails or to drive a transalp and still smooth and stable to run an enduro race or to make an excursion to the bike park. However, its geometry is not as radically progressive as our GEOLUTION bikes.
The ARGON-AM is a bike for the puristic all-mountain riders and enduro riders who don’t want to get used to our long GEOLUTION geometry and prefer compact frames. No technical gadgets, preferably with maintenance-free drive, thick tires and proper suspension travel at the front. Here, too, you will find a relatively flat steering angle that ensures smooth running and self-confidence in steep and technical passages. Hunting over rough trails at high speed? With the Argon AM, a matching 150 to 160 mm suspension fork and some physical exertion this is not an issue. You’ll probably even overtake a few Fully riders, who will be embarrassed. However, when it comes to top tube length, reach and chain stay length, the AM remains on the more Klaasian side, promoting a more active and playful driving style. This makes wheelies and manuals even more playful and intuitive. Nevertheless, the AM still climbs very well due to its perfectly balanced weight distribution. The rear end can accommodate the classic hub dimensions 135x10mm or 142x12mm and offers tyre clearance of up to 2.4 inches. The frame is also ideally suited for the use of a GATES belt in combination with a ROHLOFF hub.
Like every NICOLAI frame, the Argon AM is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. The frame tubes are specially selected for the area of application and ensure high frame rigidity with a very respectable weight. Our elaborately milled HOLLOW-WELD Yokes welded together from the two half-shells on the seat and chainstays provide the necessary tyre clearance and are unmistakable features of our wheels. An artistically milled head tube cast set is used to permanently absorb the high loads caused by the longtravel suspension fork and dissipate them over a large area. As standard the Argon AM is built with fixed removable axle dropouts with an effective chain stay length of 425 mm, but on request we can also use adjustable dropouts with which the chain stay length can be varied between 425 and 449 mm – mind you, without having to readjust the brake. All these components are assembled by our experienced welders to a technically perfect frame… including the famous NICOLAI welding beads. The tidy, external cable laying and the carefree BSA bottom bracket are standard for us anyway. Of course we have also thought of a standard ISCG05 mount for a bike of this caliber.
All possibilities are also open to you when it comes to the finish. You can choose from various powder coatings, anodised colours and of course our legendary raw finish. In addition, you can choose from various decors and decorative colours and also set additional colour accents with our Extra Love parts anodised in the colour of your choice. With a NICOLAI, there is no bar stock for optics either.

If after a few years of hard work a bearing on a Nicolai frame needs to be replaced, a RADO needs to be replaced due to a fall or a frame needs a new coating, the NICOLAI service staff is the right contact. Since we at NICOLAI manufacture all small parts on our machines, we can also produce spare parts for older models if required. We therefore guarantee spare parts availability of at least 10 years for all Nicolai products.
