We admit that the ARGON AM is a British led creation. It was they who first asked us to build a real all mountain hardtail. Low maintenance, light and super robust, but easy handling and strong enough to handle long travel suspension forks. The ARGON AM is a trendsetter and has been a pioneer for our progressive GEOLUTION geometry. In terms of application, it lies between the current Argon GTB and the GLF – efficient and suited to a lap of your local trails or a big day in the saddle, but also tough enough to handle an enduro race or a trip to the bike park. However, its geometry is not as radically progressive as our GEOLUTION bikes.
The ARGON AM is the bike for the all mountain and enduro rider who isn’t a fan of our long GEOLUTION geometry and prefers compact frames. No unnecessary complication, just a bike to rely upon and have fun riding. Preferably, a maintenance-free drivetrain, wide tires and a sturdy mid to long travel suspension fork. You’ll find a fairly slack head angle to give you confidence to launch into technical trails. Enjoy ‘interesting’ trails at high speed? With the Argon AM, a 150 to 160 mm suspension fork and some leg ‘travel’ you’ll have a ball. You’ll probably even overtake some riders on full suspension bikes, to their embarrassment. However, when it comes to top tube length, reach and chain stay length, the AM remains on the shorter side, promoting a more active and playful riding style. This makes wheelies and manuals even more easy and intuitive. Despite this, the AM still climbs well thanks to its perfectly balanced weight distribution. The rear end can accommodate 135x10mm or 142x12mm hub dimensions and clearance for 2.4 inch tyres. The frame is also ideally suited for using a GATES belt in conjunction with a ROHLOFF hub.
As standard the Argon AM is built with fixed removable axle dropouts with an effective chain stay length of 425 mm, but on request we offer adjustable dropouts allowing you to adjust them between 425 and 449 mm, without having to readjust the brake. All these components are assembled by our experienced welders to make what might just be the perfect frame for you. The tidy, external cable routing and the hassle free BSA bottom bracket are standard for us. We have also put ISCG05 mounts on, because you’ll likely be needing them.
NICOLAI Argon AM – our playful all-mountain/enduro hardtail.
If after a few years of hard work a bearing on a Nicolai frame needs to be replaced, a RADO needs to be replaced due to a fall or a frame needs a new coating, the NICOLAI service staff is the right contact. Since we at NICOLAI manufacture all small parts on our machines, we can also produce spare parts for older models if required. We therefore guarantee spare parts availability of at least 10 years for all Nicolai products.
